USDA to Hold National Ag Air Quality Meeting in SLC
This bi-annual meeting of the USDA Agricultural Air Quality Task Force (AAQTF) will be held in Salt Lake City May 13-14.

USDA Opens 2008 CSP Sign-Up
Producers in the Illinois’ Lower Cache Watershed are among those invited to participate in the 2008 sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP). According to Illinois Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist Bill Gradle, the sign-up period will be open from April 18 thru May 16, 2008.

Conservation Security Program Sign-Up Announced
COLUMBUS, March 21, 2008 – State Conservationist Terry Cosby announced a sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) that will be available to approximately 3,300 potentially eligible farms in the Sandusky Watershed covering 11 north central Ohio counties, including portions of Crawford, Erie, Hardin, Huron, Marion, Ottawa, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood, and Wyandot Counties.

CSP sign-up to begin in Lower Snake-Tucannon Watershed
SPOKANE, Wash. (March 20, 2008) — A sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) will be held April 18 to May 16 for producers in the Lower Snake-Tucannon watershed in southeast Washington, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service announced today. NRCS estimates some 500 farms, covering more than 600,000 acres are within that watershed, which covers parts of Walla Walla, Asotin, Garfield, Columbia and Whitman counties.

Schafer Announces CSP Sign-Up in Nebraska and Kansas.
WASHINGTON, March 19, 2008—Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer announced a sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) that will be available starting on April 18 to approximately 64,000 potentially eligible farms and ranches in 51 watersheds covering more than 23.7 million acres.

USDA Announces Sign-Up For 2008 Conservation Security Program in West Virginia
MORGANTOWN, WV, March 20, 2008 — USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces the 2008 Conservation Security Program (CSP) sign-up will be held April 18 to May 16, 2008, in the Lower Kanawha watershed. The watershed includes parts of Cabell, Jackson, Kanawha, Mason, Putnam, and Roane Counties.

Wisconsin Watershed Eligible for Conservation Security Program
MADISON, WI……The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced that the Milwaukee River Watershed will be eligible for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) in 2008. During this 2008 signup, the Milwaukee River Watershed is the only watershed open for the program in Wisconsin.

USDA Announces Sign-Up for 2008 CSP
Harrisburg, March 21, 2008- USDA NRCS State Conservationist Craig Derickson today announced that the 2008 CSP sign-up will be held April 18 to May 16, 2008 in three Pennsylvania watersheds: the Lower Juniata, Lower Delaware, and Gunpowder-Patapsco. Eligible producers in portions of Bedford, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Montgomery, Perry, Philadelphia, Snyder, and York counties are encouraged to apply.

Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer announced a sign-up for the Conservation Security Program (CSP) will be available starting on April 18 to approximately 698 potentially eligible farms covering more than 348,750 acres in the Upper White-Village Watershed in Arkansas. The watershed includes portions of Greene, Independence, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, White and Woodruff counties.

NRCS Plans Soil Survey Work Planning and Web Service Conference
MORGANTOWN, WV, March 12, 2008—The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announces it will hold a public meeting on May 21st, 2008 at the New River Technical College in Summersville, WV to solicit public feedback on the update and maintenance of soil survey data in West Virginia.

NRCS Provides Technical, Financial Assistance to Landowners for Tornado Cleanup
The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is providing Arkansas landowners funding through the Emergency Watershed Protection program for the removal of storm debris from stream channels and bridge structures caused by the Feb. 5 tornadoes.

July 15 application ranking cut-off date announced for EQIP
SPOKANE, Wash. (March 17, 2008) – Washington’s most popular agricultural conservation program has a new application ranking cut-off date – July 15 – USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service announced today.

The government is looking for landowners
Landowners who are interested in converting cropland to wildlife habitat despite the soaring price of corn and soybeans.

Forest owners to benefit from interagency collaboration
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the USDA Forest Service, and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry will explore ways to provide additional financial and technical assistance to landowners bordering the Wayne National Forest for management of forest resources.
