Amherst Land Trustupdated: October 2010

The Amherst Land Trust is a 501(c).3 Corporation, a private non-profit incorporated in the State of New Hampshire. Day-to-day decisions are made by the Board of Trustees. All members have a vote at the Annual Meeting.

The Amherst Land Trust is a sponsor member of the Land Trust Alliance, an organization that promotes land conservation by providing resources and leadership to over 1200 land trusts nationwide. The Amherst Land Trust has adopted the Alliance's Standards and Practices for land trust operations.

To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town of Amherst, county of Hillsborough,state of New Hampshire (1) the conservation of the natural resources, to include theconservation of the natural resources of the land, water, marshland, woodland and open spaces,and the plant and animal life therein of said town; (2) the maintenance of the unique scenicand historic sites of said town; and (3) the protection of the waters, lakes, ponds andwatershed areas of said town against pollution;

To acquire, by gifts, purchase or otherwise, real or personal property of all kinds, and therights to property including easements of all types and kinds such as, without limitation,conservation easements and preservations restorations and to use such property and rights insuch a manner.
