Beausoleil Architects

Beausoleil is French for ‘beautiful sun’ the ultimate source of energy that sustains life on our planet

Who we are . . .

Beausoleil Architects was founded in 1992 by our two principals, Robert and Christine Boles, a husband and wife team.  We specialize in residential, hospitality and small commercial projects.  We pride ourselves on our ability to provide our clients with a high level of personal service and design to fulfill your spatial dreams as well as your practical needs.  We work with you to design a project that integrates form, function, budget, technology and environmental sensitivity.

Our Projects . . .

Our completed projects include new and remodeled homes, ranging from modest to palatial in scale, hotels and restaurants, as well as commercial, non-profit and retail projects. Most of our work has been in California but we also have completed projects in China, Italy and Australia.  We are available to work in the European Common Market, with EU citizenship and fluent French language skills.

Our Clients . . .

We consider our clients our partners in design.  Our best projects are those that result from our collaboration with clients fully engaged in the design process, bringing their own ideas and vision to bear.

Robert Boles, Architect

Robert’s strengths are his breadth of knowledge of construction types, building types and historical styles, his design and detailing skills, and his experience coordinating the work of associated engineering consultants.

After receiving his architectural training at the University of California at Berkeley and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, he received his California Architectural License in 1986.

Christine Lebeau Boles, Architect

Christine’s strengths are in project management, design and space planning, and use of computers to facilitate efficient work and communication.  She became a California licensed architect in 1993 after completing her studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with subsequent graduate level work at the University of California at Berkeley. She also enjoys pastel painting and stained glass work.

Green Design

Commitment to the Environment

From our early experience working at the world’s first all-solar, environmentally designed subdivision, Mike Corbett’s Village Homes in Davis, California, in the 1970’s, we have always sought to bring environmentally conscious design solutions to our projects. While some ‘green’ design offers challenges and choices in regards to budget, the majority of good environmental decisions are solved with thoughtful design, which does not necessarily cost more. With the continued projected rise in energy costs, good design and quality construction become even more crucial to the success of a project.

Green building

is really about good design, which includes:

  • Properly planning a project for connection to the community, preservation of land, good solar orientation and use of natural lighting
  • Construction of good quality, durable buildings with flexible planning
  • Careful selection of materials and systems for indoor air quality, comfort and health
  • Conservation of resources (energy, water, materials, and money)

We are at an exciting time in our profession with an abundance of new green products, technologies and resources. We are committed to a continuous educational process with our clients, contractors and consultants to not only reduce the negative impact of projects on the environment, but to create beautiful spaces that can nurture and shelter us while making the world a better place for our children and future generations.

We are trained as Certified Green Building Professionals with Build It Green, are members of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and certified as a green business by the San Francisco Department of the Environment.
