Black Mountain Conservancy

The Black Mountain Conservancy, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) land trust, works with other land preservation organizations, such as the Desert Foothills Land Trust, to moderate development on the mountain. We raise money to purchase land, we sponsor awareness programs, we support the efforts of the towns of Carefree and Cave Creek to pass ordinances that protect hillsides and contain development, and we encourage landowners who want to build on the mountain to blend their homes into the environment.

to simply encourage preservation of as much land as possible and to encourage only responsible development. The Black Mountain Conservancy, is respectful of private property rights.

The Black Mountain Conservancy’s vision to preserve a precious Sonoran Desert mountain grew out of respect—respect for Black Mountain’s scenery, wildlife and history; respect for the people who live within sight of the mountain; and respect for the people who own land and homes on Black Mountain.
