Colorado State University Extension El Paso County

Colorado State University Extension in El Paso County is a partnership between the county, state, and federal governments. Approximately half of our funding comes from the El Paso County Board of Commissioners, though the Community Services Department.  The other half comes from state funds approved by the Colorado Legislature, through CSU Extension, Fort Collins. Federal funds support campus based State Specialists positions in research as well as the local nutrition program targeting limited income audiences.

The local CSU Extension program utilizes trained volunteers as a delivery system to offer educational programming to broader, more diverse audiences.  Volunteers deliver programming to participants of all ages throughout El Paso County.  They support programming by assisting with planning and coordination of events and resource development.  Roughly 300 volunteers annually contribute more than 4000 hours to educational programming.

Colorado State University Extension in El Paso County is the bridge between the research-based knowledge developed on the campus of Colorado State University and local citizens.  Citizens of all ages and backgrounds learn skills in nutrition promoting better health, and skills in agriculture, youth development, and natural resources enhancing the quality of life, both allowing citizens to be more self-sufficient.
