Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts

Who are we?
The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1986 to provide professional assistance to a small group of private land trusts working to acquire and protect land on the lower Cape.  Today, The Compact represents 22 land trusts and is the only organization operating Cape-wide to assist the land trust community in acquiring and managing significant natural areas as a protected open space system.  Working with both public and private partners, this association provides the opportunity for coordinated conservation efforts throughout Cape Cod.

What do we do?
The primary mission of The Compact is to assist land trusts in acquiring and protecting open space on Cape Cod.  With a small staff of environmental professionals, it provides a wide variety of services to its members including technical assistance with land acquisition  projects, site planning and land management, fundraising and grant proposal writing, environmental research and public education.

The Compact's work is supported with dues paid by its member trusts and through grants, contracts and donations.  By working together, The Compact is able to assist the land trust community at substantial savings to the region and the individual trusts.

Protecting Cape Cod ...naturally.
Conserving Cape Cod's natural landscapes is a vital and necessary part of planning for its future.  Protecting land as open space serves many purposes, from maintaining the quality of drinking water supplies, to preserving wildlife habitats, or providing for diverse outdoor recreational activities.  Scenic, cultural and historic resources are also distinctive resources within a community that augment its open space system and help maintain its character and unique quality of life.
