Davidson Soil and Water Conservation District

The Davidson Soil and Water Conservation District traces its roots back to the Dust Bowl Era when soil conservation districts began to be formed across the United States. The national emergency created by rampant soil erosion in the 1930’s led national and local leaders to recognize the need for local solutions to this national problem. Local soil conservation districts came to be the solution to this national problem.

Conservation districts responsibilities have grown to include providing leadership for addressing water and other natural resource concerns.

The Davidson District exists to serve the public and to ensure a healthy and productive environment. Its task is to work safeguarding land, water, and related natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.

The Staff of the Davidson Soil and Water Conservation District is available to provide technical assistance on a wide variety of conservation measures both for the agricultural and non-agricultural land user. These services include resource inventory and evaluation, conservation planning, designing conservation measures, construction supervision, and consultation on almost any natural resource issue.
