Georges River Land Trust

Since 1987, the Georges River Land Trust (GRLT) has worked to conserve and protect, for the public benefit, the natural resources and traditional character of the Georges River watershed in mid-coast Maine.

GRLT works with landowners and communities to protect special natural landscapes for future generations of the watershed. Landowners can place conservation easements on their properties or can donate/sell their land to the land trust. In either case, the land trust takes care of these lands in ways that ensure the conservation values will not disappear over time.

The Georges River Land Trust has an extensive conservation trails program, providing access to natural lands through hiking, biking and auto routes. Through the Georges Highland Path program, landowners extend access for low-impact hiking through a handshake agreement.

Mission:
to conserve and protect, for the public benefit, the natural resources and traditional character of the Georges River watershed region.
