Gray County

The Gray County Extension is an arm of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, which teaches Texans wherever they live, extending research-based knowledge to benefit their families and communities. The Extension offers science based information on agriculture, healthy living, and provides educational opportunities through 4-H.

Gray County is one of 254 counties in Texas. Located on the eastern side of the Texas Panhandle, Gray County was established in 1902 and named after Peter W. Gray, who was a member of the First State Legislature. The county seat is Pampa, which is the hub of the eastern panhandle. Other communities in the county include Alanreed, Lefors, and McLean. Gray County is known both for industry and agriculture. It has a population of approximately 23,850 people and a Civilian Labor Force of 10,815.
