Jill C. Pennington
Jill C. Pennington's practice emphasizes oil and gas contractual disputes, complex personal injury matters, and general corporate and business defense. She has represented a variety of clients in Texas, including oil and gas companies and corporations, publicly traded companies, landowners, small and mid-size businesses, physicians and other individuals, and physician trusts.
Jill's background in oil and gas began prior to law school when she obtained a Petroleum Land Management degree from Texas Tech University and performed an internship with the Land Department for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Since graduating from law school, Jill's practice has included royalty disputes, lease negotiations, disputes emanating from joint operating agreements, pipeline litigation, and cases centered on oil and gas well personal injury and fatalities.
In addition to her oil and gas experience, Jill has been involved in a variety of other types of litigation that include general breach of contract lawsuits, non-competition matters, employment law defense, commercial lease disputes, and medical malpractice and personal injury defense involving catastrophic brain injury and/or death. Prior to joining the firm, Jill focused her practice on complex medical malpractice defense, which enabled her to develop relationships with leading medical experts across the country.
Jill has substantial pretrial and trial experience, including venue analysis and challenges, discovery motions and large-scale document production, preparation of pretrial motions, challenges to experts, organization and compilation of mass filings and records for presentation at trial, and direct-examination, cross-examination, argument of jury charges and post-trial motions (as a second chair lawyer). Jill also has assisted in successfully negotiating favorable settlements in several high exposure cases and has been heavily involved in commercial arbitrations and mediations.
Jill contributes to and helps to maximize firm litigation teams by providing tenacity, diligence, and adherence to the ethical practice of the law in an effort to optimize results for clients.
