Keith Crummer

Keith Crummer is a 1965 graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U. C. Berkeley, College of Forestry. He became a Certified Silviculturist, by passing advanced courses in Forest Ecology and Silviculture from UCB as well. 

He had a wide ranging career on six National Forests during his 31 year career with the U. S. Forest Service.  His career included numerous assignments in timber management, resource planning, and as District Ranger on the Mendocino and Lassen National Forests.  He was also the first Forest Ecosystem Manager (Deputy Forest Supervisor) on the Lassen National Forest.  He was involved in forest fire mitigation and suppression since 1960 and was the Situation Unit Leader on National Incident Command Team 1 for several years. He also earned the title of Type 2 Incident Commander. 

Since retiring from the USFS in 1994 he has conducted forest ecology seminars for Feather River College, Elderhostel and numerous schools, civic organizations and interested publics including the Boy Scouts of America.  He authored The Dynamic Forest, a locally focused forest ecology PowerPoint series and text book for teachers.  

He is a California Registered Professional Forester and has had his own forestry consulting business, Professional Forestry Services, at Lake Almanor in North Eastern California for the past 22 years.  He has been a member of the Society of American Foresters for 51 years.
