Lake Maurepas Society, Inc.

The Lake Maurepas Society (LMS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The society began when a small group of conservationists met in February 1994 to discuss the conditions of poor fish catches in the lake. Since this time much has happened and over 400 concerned citizens have made a very real difference in our community!

Over the years, we've conducted a "Swamp Sweep" to clean up the old Highway 51, which passes through the Lake Maurepas estuary; the "Lakeside/Roadside Park Project" to clean and clear 1.5 acers of land that overlook the lake for a park, which LMS has agreed to maintian and make improvements to as a way of bringing more public awareness to the natural beauty of the lake and its estuary; we also take water quality samples from the lake and the three rivers the feed into it every month to check for pollution.
