Marshall SWCD

The mission of the Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District is to provide landowners and residents of Marshall County with soil conservation information and supplemental funding in pursuit of sound natural resource management.


Commissioners serve without pay as volunteer promoters of conservation in the county. We are responsible for carrying out state laws and programs within district boundaries. This includes:

- Iowa’s sediment control law

- Conservation cost-sharing through the Iowa Financial Incentive Program

- Conservation revolving loan funds

- Water quality protection projects

- Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) program

We work in cooperation with other groups and agencies, including:

Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship

Division of Soil Conservation

Natural Resources Conservation Service

Farm Service Agency

Iowa State University Extension Service

Iowa Department of Natural Resources

Marshall County Board of Supervisors

Marshall County Conservation Board

Local committees to set priorities for environmental projects
