Michael H. Ballinger

In 2006 Mike joined Gelbert, Fullbright & Randolph Forestry Consultants, and is responsible for corporate and private lands in Southside Virginia, and North Central North Carolina.

Mike Ballinger’s experience in forestry is centralized in the management of non-industrial private lands, with a short sabbatical procuring timber for a major supplier of solid wood products in the Southside area of Virginia.  In 1984 Mike began working in what was to become one of the most influential Landowner Assistance Programs in the southeastern United States.  His involvement began in the Florence area of South Carolina as a Forest Technician and culminated in the Southside Virginia/North Central North Carolina area as Area Manager where he managed over 65,000 acres of non-industrial private land, involving 144 private landowners. When the program was terminated, Mike entered the procurement field where he purchased timber for a wood supplier, keeping three to five logging contractors working for five years.
