Ontario Land Trust Alliance

The Ontario Land Trust Alliance promotes voluntary private land conservation to benefit communities and natural heritage systems. We are the provincial convener, strategist and representative of 32 community-based land trusts across Ontario.  OLTA’s 42 members represent some 120,000 individuals and protect over 90,000 acres across the Province for the benefit of their local communities, local species and the people of the Province of Ontario.

Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Ontario Land Trust Alliance to encourage the land trust movement throughout Ontario. This will be done by providing administrative and professional support to a province-wide network of member groups who adhere to an acceptable set of standards and practices regarding the broad spectrum of land trust activities. The scope of the Ontario Land Trust Alliance encompasses wilderness, agricultural and other lands, water and facilities that have a natural, cultural or heritage significance to communities throughout Ontario.

To dramatically expand the pace of land conservation
To be an inclusive alliance dedicated to building strong community-based land trusts
To provide financial grants to member groups to aid them with land securement and capacity building projects.
To develop and work with member groups to implement a set of standards and practices regarding land trust activities to ensure the continued confidence of funders, donors and regulatory bodies.
To represent the interests and increase the profile of the members of OLTA
To identify and develop additional member services that will enable member groups to better accomplish the goals of their organizations.
