Richard O. Whitaker
Richard O. Whitaker (Whit) did his undergraduate work at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and was admitted to veterinary school prior to receiving an undergraduate degree. Whit attended University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1979 as a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). Dr. Whitaker moved to Maine in 1987 and established New England Genetics to pursue his special interest in reproduction and embryo transfer in cattle. You may find more information on that at:

Dr. Whitaker has also been practicing small animal medicine at Central Maine Veterinary Hospital since its inception in 1991. Presently Whit is the relief vet at CMVH, filling in when and where needed. Whit returned to school in 2000 and earned his MBA at University of Southern Maine in 2004.
