The Technical Assistance for Pennsylvania Landowners Program

The Technical Assistance for Pennsylvania Landowners Program (TA for PA) is designed to facilitate and expedite the protection and restoration of aquatic systems in critical watersheds in Pennsylvania.  The purpose of TA for PA is to help garner funding to combine the resources of the most effective wetland restoration specialists in Pennsylvania to provide much-needed technical assistance, education, and outreach to landowners interested in restoring wetlands through the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service’s Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) and other restoration programs.

The TA for PA program began as a partnership between NRCS, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Conservation Lands, LLC, Huntingdon County Conservation District and TFT.   Grant awards from Foundation for Pennsylvania’s Watersheds (FPW) and the Foundation for California University of Pennsylvania allowed for technical assistance to be provided to Pennsylvania landowners.  Since our program's beginning in 2009, we have provided technical assistance to restore and protect over 230 acres of wetlands through WRP.

Our ultimate goal is to grow our technical assistance program throughout Pennsylvania and beyond.  We are currently working to develop pilot programs in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina to protect and restore welands by providing outreach and assistance to enroll landowners into WRP and other federal and state restoration programs.
