Washington State Department of Agriculture Organic Program

WSDA Organic Food Program is accredited as a certification agent by USDA. As a certification agent of the National Organic Program, WSDA Organic Food Program's role is to inspect and certify organic opertions; verifying that they are meeting all of the requirments of USDA organic standards.

Washington State Department of Agriculture’s Organic Program provides cost-share funds that are available to help cover the costs of organic certification. Funded through the farm bill, the National Organic Certification Cost Share Program helps farmers, handlers and processors afford the expense of organic certification by reimbursing them for up to 75% of their certification costs, with a maximum of $750 per scope of operation.

How to Apply

A Statewide Payee Registration form must be completed to receive cost share funds from WSDA. For operations certified by the WSDA Organic Program with a completed your cost share application in 2014, and were eligible for reimbursement, your cost share reimbursement for 2015 will automatically be issued.

If you have not yet applied for cost share reimbursement, complete, sign, and submit the Statewide Payee Registration form to the Organic Program. Cost share applicants must submit the forms to be eligible for 2015 reimbursement. The business information on the forms must match your certification file to be considered for cost share funds. If you are not certified by the WSDA Organic Program, but your business is located in Washington State and is certified by another USDA accredited certifier, complete, sign, and submit the Statewide Payee Registration form, as well as proof of organic certification and an itemized paid receipt of fees paid for certification.
