Mission Statement

The Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the natural heritage of Southeastern Massachusetts. The Trust holds its lands in trust and perpetuity, to benefit the public today and to pass on to future generations.

The Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts actively seeks opportunities to acquire and protect lands in a natural state, according to plans that respect each preserve's distinctive characteristics, opportunities and needs.

The Trust also seeks to educate the public about the importance of land conservation, so as to further efforts to acquire or otherwise protect land; promote the protection of open lands, wetlands, woodlands, marshes, meadows, fields,and ecosystems; advance the study (scientific or otherwise) and conservation of native flora and fauna ; facilitate cooperation with those who share The Trust's goals; and encourage prudent public policy toward land.


The Trust Protects Land in Perpetuity to:
  • Maintain wildlife habitat
  • Provide for public enjoyment of nature
  • Keep the rural flavor of our towns
  • Promote continued agricultural use of land
  • Protect water quality
  • Educate young people
  • Increase recreational opportunities
  • Preserve our natural heritage
