  • From the town of Susanville proceed 16 miles north on Highway 139.
Special Restrictions:
  • Camping is not allowed.
  • The Wildlife Area is 2,722 acres of meadows, wetlands, and shallow marshes, and is a major source of water for Honey Lake. Extensive tule occupies the lower meadows, and numerous streams and channels meander through the area. The meadows provide habitat for upland species such as grouse, quail, and pronghorn antelope.
Recreational Use:
  • Type B Wildlife Area
  • Birdwatching and wildlife viewing is permitted. Nesting waterfowl, sandhill cranes, and shorebirds all provide excellent viewing opportunities.
  • Waterfowl, snipe, coots, and moorhens are permitted during those seasons.
