Katrina Reforestation Outreach Program

About the Katrina Reforestation Outreach Program
Hurricane Katrina was a lifetime disaster for forest landowners across the four southeastern states. Many financial assistance programs and reforestation programs have been put in place in the past year by federal (primarily U.S. Department of Agriculture), and state agencies.

State and federal tax credits have also been put in place to assist forest landowners. For many who not familiar with internet access or are not conversant with federal and state agencies, the array of information may be daunting.

We built this site to bring these assistance programs to you. The financial assistance and individual tax credits are real money.

Take advantage of these programs and call our partners to get some real help. All of our partners are non-government non-profit organizations local to the region with solid reputations of working with private landowners and matching them with the assistance programs.

261 counties in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi were declared primary presidential or secretarial disaster areas in 2005 due to the hurricanes. We are compiling databases of assistance programs, registered foresters, consultants, seedling suppliers, and nurseries to help you connect with the resources you need to replant four hurricane damaged forest. This site is designed to help you find local resources at the county level.
