Ross Brupbacher grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and attended Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management in 1970. Ross was drafted by the NFL and went on to play four seasons for the Chicago Bears. He also played for the World Football League in 1974 and served as defensive captain for the Birmingham Americans, leading them to the 1974 World Bowl Championship title. Thereafter, Ross enrolled in the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU, graduating with his J.D. in 1977.

In addition to serving as Sheriff of Lafayette Parish, Ross’s professional experiences include practice as a trial attorney for Domengeaux, Wright, Roy & Edwards as well as general counsel for Lafayette General Medical Center for many years. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. Ross maintains a general practice, primarily focusing on business consultations.
